Obituary

Capece, Joyce (Patys), 79, of Smithfield, passed away on January 27, 2021 at Newport Hospital.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Jomantas) Patys.

Joyce was a licensed practical nurse for over forty years, beginning her career at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.  She then worked in multiple nursing homes, where she was acknowledged for her hard work and compassion.  She enjoyed spending her summers at Mary Carpenter’s Beach in Matunuck, where she was the former president of the BMCA, which organized events for children and adults.

Joyce is survived by two children, Raymond J. Capece and his wife Amy E. Capece and Rebecca A. Capece and her partner, Nathan P. Meyer, three grandchildren, Bode X. Meyer, Anthony P. Capece, and Raymond J. Capece, and her sister, Joanne Serapiglia and her husband John.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 10 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield.  Burial will be private.
