Forrest Sprague Jr.

Sprague, Forrest R., Jr., 90, of North Scituate, died Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the Woodpecker Hill Nursing Home.  He was the husband of Nancy K (Atkinson) Sprague.  Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Forrest R. and Ethel (Lund) Sprague.

Forrest was the superintendent of the former Providence Gas Company for many years before retiring in 1991. A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he was a professional Engineer. Forrest served his country proudly as a First Lieutenant in the US Army in Korea, where he received the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, the United Nations Service Medal, Army of Occupation medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and a Bronze Star Medal.

He was the chairman of the Scituate Zoning Board for 45 years, active in the North Scituate Baptist Church, and a former chairman of the Scituate Art Festival.

Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Peter D. Sprague of Foster, and Forrest R. Sprague III of California, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.  He was the brother of the late Lawrence and Emory Sprague.

His funeral service and burial were private.
