David Barchi

April 12, 1949 — April 13, 2022

North Providence

Barchi, David A., 73, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2022 at Hopehealth Hospice Inpatient Center. He was the husband of Wieslawa (Karwowska) DiCenso. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Andrew and Etta (Casolla) Barchi.

The ancient Greeks didn’t write an obituary for a person when he or she passed away. They would only ask one question; did they live their life with passion? If this question was posed regarding David, the answer would be a resounding “yes!” His adventures and accomplishments bear witness to the fact that he faced life head-on. At the young age of 18, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and sent to Vietnam. He emerged two years later as a combat-decorated veteran, having received the Medal of Valor, an accomplishment which would help to motivate and define him once he returned home to embark on his ensuing career. He gravitated toward business, and more specifically, finance. He received his bachelor’s degree in marketing and business administration from Johnson and Wales University while under the employ of General Electric Finance Corporation, where he quickly rose to the position of Manager of Business Development. Citicorp/Citibank took notice of his rising star and hired him shortly thereafter as a Senior Vice-President of Sales. His final position before retiring was as Executive Vice-President for both B-First and National Mortgage Corporation.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Deana Marie Amaral and her husband, Tony, his granddaughter, Kyla Bree Amaral; his stepchildren, Ewaryst Missiuro, Patrycja Vasilyev Missiuro and her husband, Dmitry, the late Jastynian Missiuro, as well as Aurelia Missiuro and nine step-grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters; Carol Mosher and Jean Barchie, and brothers Daniel, Carl, Michael and the late Mitchell Barchie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and close friends.

David Barchi was an honorable man of impeccable character, who will be dearly missed. Those wishing to pay their final respects may do so on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 4:30-7:30 pm at the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will proceed with military honors at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail., Exeter on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at 11:30 am.
