William Smith

William J. Smith, 70, of Mapleville, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 3, 2023 at his daughter’s home, surrounded by his family.  Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Ethel Smith, John Gore, and Kenneth Smith.

William was a devoted employee of Dave’s Marketplace for many years.  He was the life of the party and enjoyed music and dancing.  Most of all, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly Jean (Fournier) Smith, his children, Stacy Smith (Thomas Maroon), Lindsay Smith, and Jason Smith (Kaitlynn Porcaro); five grandchildren, Lillian, Cody, Harley, Trevor, and Lucas Smith; brothers, Roy, Leonard, and Daniel Smith; sisters, Mary Creighton, Debra Melvin, and Kathleen Garneau; and many nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Kenneth, Richard, and Fred Smith and Marion Vickers.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4-8 pm in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice at https://www.hopehealthco.org/
