William Northup, Jr.

Northup, William C., Jr., 89, of Johnston, died May 21, 2014 at the Woonsocket Health Center. He was the husband of Helen (Naylor) Northup. Born in North Kingstown, he was a son of the late William C. Northup, Sr. and the late Bertha L. (Carpenter) Northup.

Mr. Northup was the owner of the former William C. Northup and Son, Inc. He was the first chief of the Johnston Fire Department and a Navy veteran of WWII and Korea.

Besides his wife, he leaves two children, Virginia F. Schneider of North Smithfield and William C. Northup III of Johnston, a sister, Nellie Gaunt of Johnston, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visitation Saturday 9-10 am.
