William L. Garriepy

William L. Garriepy, 78, of Nasonville, RI, passed away on November 11, 2023 at Crystal Lake Nursing Home, Pascoag.  He was the beloved husband of Susan E. (Morin) Garriepy for 53 years.  He was the loving father of Mark W. Garriepy and his wife Cameron of Framingham, MA, Jason M. Garriepy and his wife Jackie of Smithfield, and Michael L. Garriepy and his wife Colleen of Millville, MA.  He also leaves his cherished grandchildren, Felix G. Garriepy, Morgan L. Garriepy, and Samantha Williams.

William was born in Providence on June 16, 1945, the son of the late William T. and Beatrice (LaCroix) Garriepy.  He was the brother of Sheila (Garriepy) Wiken and her husband John of Peru, ME.

William graduated from Hope High School and received a Bachelor of Science from Providence College.  He worked at Kent County Hospital as a cytotechnologist.  He was a United States Army veteran of the Vietnam War, rank of Specialist, receiving the Purple Heart.

He enjoyed many years with the 13th and 25th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, doing Civil War reenactments.  He loved animals, especially his best canine friend, Riley.  He also had a passion for collecting and selling antiques.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 17th 2023 from 9-10 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. John the Evangelist, 63 Church St., North Smithfield.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org
