Varghese Cherian

Cherian, Varghese “Sam”, 66, of Johnston, died Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Almaz Techan. Born in India, he was a son of the late Itty and Aleyamma Cherian.

Sam was a high school educator for over 10 years in Ethiopia. After he immigrated to Rhode Island, he remained a dedicated employee to Macy’s as a sales associate for over 15 years.

He always remained full of life, loved constantly being on the move, helping others in need without fail, and most of all believed “that this is life, and we all have to move on from one form to another, and the energy we have gathered will remain forever, even after we leave this planet”.

He is survived by his wife, three children, Stephen Varghese, Sonia Xavier, and Semawit Varghese, five grandchildren, two brothers, John and Jose Cherian, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Ammini Cherian.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 28, 2018 from 12 Noon-2 pm in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by committal prayers in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
