Ursula Winter, 92, of North Providence, RI, beloved wife of the late Dr. Herbert R. Winter passed away peacefully on October 12th, at home.
Born and raised in Bad Berleburg, Germany, Ursula was the youngest of four children to August Jung and Ida Afflerbach Jung. After growing up in Germany, she spent some years in England before moving to the United States to be with her husband Herbert. They first lived in Iowa, before settling in North Providence, RI where Ursula lived for over 60 years until her death.
Ursula lived a dynamic and full life. In her earlier years she worked as a lab technician. Then, after acquiring her master’s degree, she became a teacher of health education.
In the summers, Ursula immersed herself in her extensive garden. She also enjoyed classical music, playing the piano, telling stories of the past, and baking. She never let her guests leave without a bottle of homemade elderberry juice or a slice of cake.
Ursula is survived by her son John-Martin and his wife, Naomi, and her daughter Nadia and her husband, Dimitri. She was a loving “Omi” to her five grandchildren: Michele, Victoria, Elsa, Nikolas & Christian, and leaves behind her beloved cat, Peppy.
Relatives and friends are invited to her memorial service on Friday, October 17th at 11 am in the Historic Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice.
