Sharon A. Greene

Sharon A. Greene, 81, of North Providence, died on November 26, 2023 at her home, with her family by her side.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Julia (Cannon) Greene.

Her parents' legacy and advocacy led to the establishment of the Fogarty Center, of which Sharon had been a member since 1966.  Sharon was the "Matriarch" of the Supported Living Program.  Her joy of independence and living in her own beautiful apartment was shaped by the full life she lived.  She was surrounded by a loving, kind, and caring support team, particularly her loyal and dedicated "Nancy" DelSignore, her support staff member of 28 years.

Sharon had an infectious laugh, a great sense of humor.  She was always ready for a party and was a wonderful friend to so many.

She was active and involved in various activities, such as Providence College Adult Literacy Class, Self-Advocacy Gruoop, Special Olympics, Best Buddies, Red Hat Society, and social events at Centredale Manor and the Salvatore Mancini Center.

Sharon loved arts and crafts, beading, stickers, painting, drawing, knitting, traveling, bingo, theatre, music (especially Elvis), watching The Cooking Channel and The Waltons, "Doggies", and just celebrating life.

Sharon is survived by her sister, Judith Riley, her brother, Kevin Greene and his wife Helen, and several nieces and nephews.  She was the sister of the late Robert and Wayne Greene.

The family would like to thank the Fogarty Center for their years of compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 from 11 am - 1 pm, followed by a service at 1 pm, in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fogarty Center, "Sharon Greene Memorial Fund", 310 Maple Ave., Suite 102 ,Barrington, RI 02806.
