Richard Lanoue, 73, passed away in Pensacola, Florida, on June 22, 2023.

 

Born in Woonsocket, RI, on May 31, 1950, he was the youngest of three children born to René Lanoue and Jeanne (Bertrand) Lanoue. He is pre-deceased by his parents and by his brother Roger (“Gerry”).

 

Richard is survived by his three children: Michael, Christopher, and Danielle. He also leaves to mourn his sister, Sister Madeleine Lanoue, a member of the Sisters of Saint Anne.

 

Richard grew up in the Blackstone Valley until the family moved to Florida. A graduate of St. James Elementary School in Manville, he graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

 

Shortly after graduation from high school, Richard joined the Army. His first posting was to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. During his 16 years in the Army, he also was stationed in Germany, Louisiana, and again in Texas (Fort Hood).

 

After leaving the Army, he worked for Omni Corporation, which provided IT security services for NASA in Houston. He later worked for Dell Technologies in tech support. For a time, while living in Panama City Beach in Florida, he opened a business providing computer sales and service. His later years took him to Beaumont, Texas, where he was in charge of tech support and also served as lecturer at Lamar University. Upon his retirement, he moved to Pensacola, Florida.

 

Cremation has taken place. A wake service will be held on August 25, at Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m., followed by burial in St. James Cemetery in Manville, RI.
