Richard G. Desjarlais, born on September 29, 1960, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, departed from this life on November 10, 2025, at his home. He was the son of the late Gilbert L. and Suzanne A. (Bourget) Desjarlais. He was a beloved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, known for his warm spirit and deep love for family.
Richard dedicated 27 years of his life to serving as a distribution clerk at the Providence Turnkey Post Office until his retirement.
Richard was a man of varied interests, showcasing his competitive spirit as a fierce cribbage player and an avid bowler. His enthusiasm for "Star Trek" was particularly notable, attending conventions and going on cruises. He also enjoyed visiting multiple presidential libraries throughout his life.
His true passion, however, lay in the dedication he showed towards his family. Richard was a cherished member of a large family, one of 21 cousins, who adored him. He is survived by his sister, Nancy E. Walkden; his brother, Russell F. Desjarlais, along with his sister-in-law, Alison Daigle; and his nephews, Matthew Ricci, Andy Noel, and Charlie Desjarlais, as well as his niece, Renee Kalan. Richard's love for his family was profound, and that love was mutual, reflected in the supportive relationships he nurtured throughout his life.
