Patricia A. Smith (O’Reilly), 76, of Smithfield, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025 at home, surrounded by her family. She was the devoted wife of Michael T. Smith, Sr. for 54 years. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late George and Alice (Rothwell) O’Reilly.
A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, Patricia was a Home Economics teacher for both Ponaganset Middle School and Smithfield High School before retiring. She also was the former owner of Twigs Florist. She was an avid gardener, a great cook, and enjoyed antiquing, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. Her most important role was as the family caretaker, as she doted on her grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two children, Michael T. Smith, Jr. (SPD) and his wife, Angela and Sarah O. Cichon and her husband, Andrew; six grandchildren, Nicholas, Abigail, Madison, Mackenzie, Joshua, and Ava; her sister, Ann St. Martin; two brothers, George O’ Reilly Jr. and his wife, Robin and Kevin O’Reilly and his wife, Laura; and many nieces and nephews, as well as her canine companion, Nellie. She was the sister of the late Mark O’Reilly and sister-in-law of the late Marc St. Martin.
Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May, 28, 2025 at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours Tuesday, May 27th from 4-8 pm.
