Pasquale Florio, 84, passed away peacefully at home on December 12, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Calvitto) Florio for 55 years. He was born in Santa Maria di Castellabate, Italy on March 6, 1941 to the late Francesco and Mafalda (Coppola) Florio.
From a young age, Pasquale demonstrated remarkable talent in carpentry, leaving school after the fourth grade to pursue an apprenticeship that would enable him to support his family. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 25, seeking a new life filled with opportunity. He initially worked as a carpenter in construction building houses, including his own home where he lived for over 50 years. He retired from Modern Industries, crafting interior finishes, after decades of valued service.
Pasquale was known for his humble and unassuming personality and the joy he derived from simple pleasures. He could often be found singing Italian songs in his workshop, creating furniture and custom items for his family and friends. Always available to lend a hand, Pasquale kept his door open to all, welcoming family and friends into his home with warmth and generosity. He’ll be remembered for his infectious laugh and being the life of the party especially once the Fireball was poured.
If he wasn’t in his workshop, Pasquale could be found in his expansive garden. No square inch was left unplanted. From tomatoes to zucchini, peppers to arugula, he grew it all. He even cultivated his own grapes to produce his famous homemade wine. This passion was not just a source of pride but also a means of sharing with those he loved.
Pasquale had a steadfast commitment to family. In addition to his wife, Pasquale leaves behind his devoted daughters, Maria Florio Jablonski (Scott) and Alissa Rockwell (Michael), and grandchildren Wilson Jablonski, John Pasquale Jablonski, Jack Rockwell, and Lucy Rockwell. He also is survived by his siblings: Costabile (Eleanor), Anna (Pasco), Antonio (Rhonda), Gerardina (Fiorello), and Vincenzo (Raffaella), as well as his sister-in-law, Paula Cosmo (Dennis). He leaves many cherished nieces and nephews here and in Italy. He was predeceased by his sister, Maria Giovanna (Michele).
His funeral will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025 at 8:45 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Graveside burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Food Pantry or HopeHealth Hospice.
