Norman J. Carreiro, 76, of West Park, Broward County, Fla., formerly of Smithfield, R.I., son of the late Herculano and Helen (St. Onge) Carreiro, passed away peacefully in his home. Norman grew up in the Georgiaville section of Smithfield.
He joined the Navy in 1967 and was a combat veteran in Vietnam. After the war Norman settled in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He was a silversmith and the founder of Hollywood Metals. Norman always wanted to give back to the veterans. He was an active member of VFW Post 2500. He served in many positions there, including Post Commander. Norman was a member of the Miramar Fla. Moose Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his brother Ronald S. Carreiro and his sister Charlotte A. Galligan. He is survived by his sister-in-law Pauline T. (Paulhus) Carreiro, brother-in-law Thomas M. Galligan and his wife Deborah. He leaves nieces and nephews, Charlene A. (Bowker) Clark her husband George, predeceased Cheryl A. Carreiro, Norman J. Carreiro his wife Kathy, Stephen J. Carreiro his wife Karen, Robert E. Bowker IV his wife Diane, predeceased Joseph Carreiro.
Services to be held on June 6th, 2026 10:30am, at Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Ave. Johnston, R.I. with Military Honors.
