Bellemore, Norman I., 87, of Smithfield, died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at the Village at Waterman Lake. He was the husband of the late Marilyn (Matrumalo) Bellemore. Born in Smithfield, he was a son of the late Frederick O. and Denise (Arsenault) Bellemore.

Norman was a mechanical engineer for 35 years with Nyman Mfg. and holds patents for paper cup products. A US Air Force veteran, he served in England during the Korean War.

He grew up in the Esmond /Centredale area where he met his late wife Marilyn, and were happily married for 38 years until her passing. In his early years he loved playing saxophone and clarinet in bands with his cousin Irving. He had also played at LaSalle Academy where he graduated in 1949. He earned his undergraduate degree in philosophy in 1970 and a Master's Degree in theology in 2006, both at Providence College.

He leaves three children, Fred A. Bellemore and his wife Myra of Washington, DC, Marilyn I. Bellemore of East Roxbury, VT, and Norman P. Bellemore and his wife Kim of Saunderstown, three grandchildren, Jack, Eric, and Margot Bellemore, and twelve nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frederick R. Bellemore and Violet Thuotte.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling Hours are Tuesday 4-8 PM.
