Nellie F. Gaunt

Nellie F. Gaunt (Northup), was born on February 11, 1929, in North Kingstown. After a rich and fulfilling life, she passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026 at the age of 96, in Smithfield.

Nellie was a woman known for her hardworking nature and remarkable independence. She was a wonderful person who was well-loved by all who knew her. Throughout her life, she was the backbone of her family, always ready to lend a helping hand and support her loved ones. Her dedication as a devoted mother and grandmother stands as one of her proudest accomplishments, leaving a legacy of love and care that will be cherished by many.

In her free time, Nellie found joy in a variety of hobbies. She had a passion for sewing, crocheting, and gardening. Nestled among her interests were reading and keeping her home immaculate. A true homemaker at heart, Nellie took immense pleasure in cooking and hosting family gatherings for the holidays, as well as planning barbecues that for her family and friends. She even had a knack for carpentry, showcasing her ability to create and build with her own hands.

Nellie is survived by her daughter, Louise Reeves, and her son, Douglas Gaunt (Pam). She also leaves behind a proud legacy through her seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Fred Gaunt, her sons, Donald and John Gaunt, her parents William and Bertha (Carpenter) Northup, her brother William Northup, and two grandchildren.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.  Visitation will begin at 10 am.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
