Mildred Millard

d. December 31, 2015

Millard, Mildred Faith (Irons), born the youngest daughter of Helen (Myers) and Irving Irons, Sr., passed on December 31, 2015. At age 17, she married the love of her life, William, and together they raised four children. Her friends knew her as Millie and her grandchildren knew her as Moochie, but all loved her humor and good nature.
Millie was immersed in music at a young age under the tutelage of her mother and she eventually played piano and organ at her church, Roger Williams Baptist in Providence. She also loved gardening and cultivated many varieties of plants, including delicious raspberries and wonderful smelling roses. Millie always enjoyed her weekly phone calls to her sister, Joy, who always told her to "take good care of my sister."
After raising her family, Millie completed her dream of finishing high school and attended her final year, graduating at the age of 56. She then went on to receive her degree from Bancroft Massage School in Massachusetts. In her later years, she loved to travel, especially to visit her children, whether they lived nearby in Providence, a few hours' drive away in Maine, or a day's flight away in Michigan.
Millie is preceded in death by her husband, William, her brothers, Irving, Raymond, Bertrand, Milton and her parents. She is survived by her sister Joy (Ted) Millard, her sister-in-law Carol (Cargill) Irons, her daughters, Joy (Lane) Kaplan and Jill (David) Young, her sons, William Jr. (Elizabeth) Millard and Christopher Millard, eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her family extends many thanks for her care at Elmhurst Extended Care, Home and Hospice of Rhode Island, Greenwich Farms, and Wynwood Care Center in Michigan. They would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to Carmen Roy and the staff of Elder at Home for their care of Millie and Bill over the past five years. You will always be considered part of our family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mt. Hope United Methodist Church Music Department, 501 East Mt. Hope, Lansing, MI 48910.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours Friday 4-7 pm.
