Marilyn Gaudioso, age 84, died peacefully in the arms of her children on January 31, 2023.
Marilyn was born on March 13, 1938 in Providence, RI to Jennie (Theilig) Gomes and Edward Gomes. Marilyn was an only child and was adored by her parents. She often shared treasured memories of her childhood in Pawtucket, RI, particularly stories of outings with her mother to Blackstone Boulevard. They would make a day of it, enjoying the scenery and having a picnic in Lippitt Park. She faithfully maintained and cherished her lifelong friendships from her childhood in Pawtucket, and from St. Patrick’s High School in Providence.
Marilyn was an outstanding mother. She taught her children to care for others and to be kind. Also, she shared the healing powers of a well-made fudge ribbon cake as well as a day spent at East Matunuck.
Marilyn spoke with her mother Jennie, on the phone, every single day. That tradition was lovingly passed down to her own children, in their adulthood.
In her professional life, Marilyn earned a Masters of Social Work from Rhode Island College. She helped many people during her time as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at Gateway Healthcare in Johnston.
Everywhere she went, Marilyn effortlessly made lasting friendships. She especially enjoyed her book group and her swim group at the Smithfield YMCA. Her passions were her family, friends, reading, music, gardening and nature.
She was the loving wife of Dan F. Gaudioso, for over 35 years. Dan passed just seven months ago.
Marilyn lived her final years of life in the compassionate care of Wingate Residences, on Blackstone Boulevard.
Marilyn is survived by three children, Joanna Birkitt (Teresa Saettel), Judith Butterfield (James McLenaghan), and Douglas Birkitt (Aileen); As well as step-children Ann Marie Evon (Fred), Daniel Gaudioso (Marion), Anthony Gaudioso (Carol), Joan Gaudioso, Joann Gaudioso, and first husband Clifford Birkitt. Many grandchildren, step-grandchildren, and great grandchildren also survive Marilyn.
