Marie Maratta (DiCicco), 96, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Peter Maratta. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Margaret (Mancini) DiCicco.
Marie shared in a fulfilling career alongside her husband, Peter, as they co-owned the former Park Avenue Pizza. Her professional journey also included years spent at Coro Jewelry and a role as a nurse's clerk at North Providence High School, from where she later retired to devote time to her beloved grandchildren.
Marie’s interests extended beyond her family; she found joy in being around others. She had a passion for shopping, going to Foxwoods, skiing trips with Peter, and cooking—her culinary skills, particularly her famous pizza, became a legacy carried on from her days at the family restaurant. She was a remarkable woman whose vibrant personality and perfectionist nature were evident in every aspect of her life.
Family was at the heart of Marie's life. She cherished every moment spent with her daughter Stephanie Vieira (Thomas) and adored her grandsons Matthew Vieira (Linden Kirk Nash) and Mitchell Vieira (Marina Massa). The joy of family expanded with the arrival of her great-grandson, Bodhi Nash Vieira, who lovingly referred to her as "G". She was the mother of the late Cynthia Maratta and sister of the late Yolanda Cocozza and Elenora Garzone.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at 12 Noon in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Calling hours are omitted and burial will be respectfully private.
Donations can be made to St. Anthony Outreach Ministry, 5 Gibbs St., North Providence, RI 02904.
