Maria A. Pimental

Maria "Antuerpia" (Mota) Pimental, 86, known lovingly to family and friends to as Marie, passed away on August 9, 2026, at Miriam Hospital in Providence. She was born in Pico de Pedra, Sao Miguel, Azores and lived a life of devotion and kindness.

Marie came to the United States from the Azores and made Fox Point, East Providence and North Providence her home for more than 73 years. Those who knew her will remember her with deep commitment to her family and her unselfishness to help others.

She was the wife of the late Joseph "Joe Pie" Pimental Jr. for 66 years, and the daughter of the late Gil do Rego and Laura (Borges) Mota, sister to the late Arquelau Mota (Karen), and Olga Arruda (Joe). Marie is survived by her children, Arlene LaSalle (Eddie), Sandra, Joseph (Amy), James (Christina), and Laura Amaral (George). She was the Vó to Haley, Simone, Sarah, Julia, Maddy and Collin. She was the step grandmother to Rick and Will. She leaves her nephews who will carry her memory with love. Services will be private.
