Lucille Garland

August 1, 1943 — September 27, 2023

North Providence

Lucille Garland (nee Laurino), beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on September 27, 2023, in Providence at age 80. Born on August 1, 1943, to the late John and Lucy Laurino (nee Zambuco). Lucille was the youngest sibling in the family, with beloved late siblings John A. Laurino, Joann Drake, and Sabina Arroyo.

Lucille is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Carl S. Garland of North Providence, her son Carl J. Garland and Ann Hovesepian of Milford, MA and her grandsons Nicholas and Joshua Garland.

Lucille was raised in Pawtucket by Eugene and Sarah McCarron and attended St. Mary's Elementary school. After graduating from West (Jenks) High School, she dedicated herself to creating a warm and loving home for her family.

Outside of her role as a loving wife and mother, Lucille enjoyed nature's embrace by walking. She found joy in daily prayer, reading religious books and watching programs on PBS and EWTN.

Her legacy will live on through her son Carl J. Garland and grandsons Nicholas and Joshua Garland, whom she considered among her proudest accomplishments. Lucille's love and guidance will forever be a part of them.

A longtime member of Mary Mother of Mankind Church in North Providence, a mass of remembrance will be held and a private burial at a future date. In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations to the Little Sisters of the Poor, Jeanne Jugan Residence in Pawtucket.
