Louis Whalen

Whalen, Louis R., 72, of Woonasquatucket Ave., died December 23, 2008 at Roger Williams Medical Center. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Edward J. and Bessie (Golembieski) Whalen.

Louis worked for Uncle's Transmission of Smithfield for the last five years, previously working as a toolmaker for various companies. He was a US Army Veteran.

He leaves three children, Eric, Steven, and Susan Whalen, all of Smithfield, four grandchildren, a sister, Caroline V. Laferriere of North Providence, and his former wife, Elizabeth Whalen. He was the brother of the late Edward J. Whalen.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 am from the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Friday 6-8 pm.
