Louis S. Long

Louis S. Long, of Rhode Island, died on September 15, 2026, at HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center. He was born on April 25, 1950, in Providence, Rhode Island.

Mr. Long graduated from Hope High School and went on to receive his associate degree at CCR.I.. He built a long career as a sales representative at Zep, where he worked for many years. Throughout his life, he was known as a kind man who loved his family and was known by his  genuine smile and curiosity. He had a great appreciation for culture.

He gave generously of his time and talents to the community and to causes important to him. Among the accomplishments that meant the most to him were his service as a member of the Lincoln Water Commission, his volunteer work at P-PAC, his membership in the Touro Fraternal Association, and his role as an elder at the Mishkahn David Messianic Congregation. These commitments reflected both his sense of service and the values by which he lived.

Louis will be remembered with love by his wife, Valerie Long; his favorite daughter, Devorah Leaver and her husband Mark of Bridgewater county, Ma; two grandchildren, and his sister, Roberta Kirschbaum and her husband Kenny of West Chester county, N.Y., as well as many beloved nieces and nephew and beloved great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Sidney Long, and his mother, Barbara (Finkler) Long.

A memorial service will be held on September 18, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. at Mishkahn David Messianic Congregation, 175 Eddie Dowling Highway, North Smithfield, Rhode Island 02896. The family will sit Shiva at Valerie's home. Saturday 7pm- 9p.m., Sunday 1 p.m.-3 p.m., Tuesday 2 p.m.- 4 p.m. and again 7 p.m.-9 p.m. Burial will be private.

Louis S. Long will be remembered for his kindness, his devotion and love to family, and his steady commitment to his faith and community.
