Lisa Mae Anderson, 57, of Smithfield, passed unexpectedly at her home on September 17, 2023.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Richard Prince Anderson and Barbara Mae (Coffin) Anderson.

She is survived by her two daughters, Sydney Butera and Julia Butera, as well as their father, Kevin Butera, all of Smithfield; her siblings, Brenda Anderson of Palm City, FL, Glen Anderson (wife Keri) of Warner Robins, GA, and Pamela Gabriele of Smithfield; as well as her nieces, Ashley Borders, Courtney Anderson, Kaylee Anderson, Anna Forsyth, and Amy Gabriele; along with many great nieces and nephews.

During her life, Lisa was an incredibly kind free spirit, who touched the hearts of every individual she crossed paths with. Her big personality allowed her to spark a conversation with anyone in the room. She spent 30+ years caring for folks with developmental disabilities, whom she was proud to work with. When she wasn't working she spent her time with her family, she truly was the best mother, sister, and auntie to them. She enjoyed singing and dancing in the kitchen just as much as she did front row at a concert. Music has always been a huge part of her life. In more recent years, she traveled to numerous places searching for live music, her favorites ranging from Grateful Dead, Dead & Company, Lady Gaga, and Elvis. Lisa was never afraid to travel. Even without much of a plan she would pack her bags and go. This strategy got her to many different places, such as Bonaire, Tennessee, Florida, California, Maine, and many more. Lisa never forgot her roots. She would always return with knickknacks and stories to share her adventures with the people she loved. She was a big storyteller, at dinner she was always the last one to finish her plate because she was always caught up in the conversation. As much as she loved her kids, she never forgot about her fur babies, Buca and the late Teddy. They enjoyed their walks through the Hundred Acre Woods with their "Momma 2". During the Spring, Lisa spent her free time tending to her amazing gardens. She always had the brightest blooming flowers everywhere she lived. Her life was filled with lots of peace, love, and laughter, much of which she brought into this world.

Although she may be physically gone, her spirit is forever with us. Look around you for a sign or a monarch butterfly, she just might be saying hi.

We will never forget her, and her legacy will live on forever.
