Leo Gervais

Gervais, Leo E., 94, of Johnston, died peacefully January 22, 2018 at Briarcliffe Manor. He was the husband of the late Rose (Guerra) Gervais and son of the late Arthur and Lydia (Ruel) Gervais.

He is survived by his four children, Arthur Gervais and his wife Patricia, Donna Villella and her partner Gary, Cheryl Long and Stephen Gervais, his three grandchildren, Jacqueline, Andrea and Alexander and his five great grandchildren, Madelyn, Aubrey, Jonathon, Garrett and Julian. He was the brother of the late Romeo, Donat Gervais, Yvonne Plante, Bella Tondreau, and Rose Vigneau.

A US Navy Veteran, Leo served on an LST in World War II, participating in the Normandy Invasion in June of 1944. A machinist by trade, he worked for a several manufacturing firms in the greater Providence area over the course of his career. He was an active member of the Smithfield Sportsman’s Club and loved outdoor activities such as camping, hunting, golfing and gardening. He enjoyed family gatherings and was an active member and treasurer of the Royal Travelers of Woonsocket, RI.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 9 am-12 Noon in the Robbins Funeral Home, followed by burial with military honors at Highland Memorial Park.
