Thornton, Kathleen (Emin), 93, of Cranston and Dresden, ME, passed away peacefully Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Roger Williams Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Leonard Thornton. Born in Smithfield, she was the daughter of the late Leander and Bertha Emin.

Mrs. Thornton was a teacher in the Smithfield school system. She taught at Anna M. McCabe School for 27 years and William Winsor School for one year. She worked at the Esmond Public Library as treasurer for many years.

Kathleen leaves two daughters, Maureen Jervis and her husband William F. of Cranston with whom she lived, and Maxine Paquette of Johnston; five grandsons, Dr. Ben Ingegneri, Bob Ingegneri, Brad Ingegneri, Jerry Paquette and Jeff Paquette; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Madonna Mott, Leah Doyle, Colette Powers, Elodie Blackmore, and Leander Emin, Jr.

Kathleen’s funeral will be held Monday at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are Sunday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Alzheimer’s Center, 25 Brayton Ave., Cranston, RI 02920.
