Joan O’Mara, 89, of Smithfield, RI, passed away on May 4, 2026. She was born in Providence, RI to the late George and Anna Gendrow.

Joan was married to Joe Lotito, who preceded her in death in 1972 and together they had two children, Cynthia Lotito and the late Joey Lotito. She later married Tom O’Mara and the two shared 48 years of marriage until his passing in 2023, and together they had Alison O’Mara. She is also survived by Cynthia’s partner, John Allaire, and Alison’s husband, Jason McNees, and the many friends who became like family over the years.

Throughout her life she was happiest in her yard, planting and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed shopping, a good movie, and never missed an episode of The Price Is Right. An avid football fan, she loved the game so much she rooted for the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots - a loyalty that was entirely her own. She was equally devoted to her four-legged grandchildren, earning her the title of dog and cat grandma among her family.

She lived by her own advice - take your time and go with the flow - and those who loved her will carry these words forward.
