Irene Ackroyd

Ackroyd, Irene A. (Pickthall), 96, died December 6, 2017 at Brookdale-Smithfield. She was the wife of the late Stanley Ackroyd. Born in Smithfield on February 24, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Mildred (Carter) Pickthall.

Mrs. Ackroyd worked for Worcester Textile and Mr. Christmas, retiring in 1986. She was a lifelong member of the Greystone P.M. Church, where she was financial secretary, and a member and past president of the Puritan Club. She was active in Boy Scouts and was past Cub Scout Den Mother.

She is survived by three sons, Dennis Ackroyd of Hernando, FL, Michael Ackroyd of Acton, MA, and Carl Ackroyd of Richmond, RI, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Frances M. Pedder.

Her funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
