Hazel Sylvester

Sylvester, Hazel M. (Hart), 91, formerly of North Providence and Narragansett, passed away on January 24, 2021.  She was the former wife of the late Joseph Sylvester, Sr.  Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Dorothy (Hayden) Hart.

Hazel retired from New England Telephone Company, now Verizon, and was a member of the telephone Pioneers of America.  She was a former treasurer of Southern RI Senior Association and a member of the Narragansett Notables.

She was the loving mother of Joseph Sylvester Jr (the late Elizabeth) of Providence, John Sylvester (Jeanne) of Barrington, and Carrie Sylvester (Kyle Yee) of Burrillville, mother-in-law of Jane Sylvester, grandmother of four, great-grandmother of two, and sister of Walter Hart, Dorothy Sylvester, and Carolyn Grote.  She was the sister of the late Donald, John, Robert, and Gordon Hart, Russell Hayden, and Helen Swan.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, January 28th at Noon in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 864 Pt. Judith Rd., Narragansett.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Make-A-Wish at wish.org.
