Grace K. Cafferty (Forgue), 94, a lifelong resident of Centredale, North Providence, died peacefully on April 21, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late John A. Cafferty, Sr. Born in North Providence, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Levesque) Forgue.
After an early career in hair styling, Grace worked as a librarian’s assistant for North Providence High School for 20 years, before retiring in 1988. Reading was not her only passion; her love of music was evident by the rock and roll sounds that would accompany a book on her lap. A lifetime member of Roy Carpenter’s Beach, Grace was happiest when spending time with her family and closest friends at Matunuck since 1950. Even on a cloudy day, she had sunshine in her eyes just being with those she loved most. Grace’s door was always open to company, and she made anyone, and everyone, feel most welcome. Her motto was to “treat family like company and company like family.”
She is survived by her children, John A. Cafferty, Jr. and his wife, Terry Lee Cafferty, Wendy Lucas, and Pamela Lombardi, seven grandchildren, April Rose Lucas, Justin Lucas, and Dano Lucas, David Lombardi and his wife, Kristin, Derek Lombardi, Shane Cafferty, and Jackson Cafferty, two great-grandchildren, Rory Grace Lombardi and Palmer Rose Lombardi, and many nieces and nephews. She was the youngest sister of the late Clifford, Henry, and Robert Forgue, Yvonne Murphy, Madeline Hartington, and Lillian Priest.
Her services and interment in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery will be respectfully private.
