Rubiano, Fred B. "Poppi", 85, died December 5, 2009 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of the late Bessie (Lombardo) Rubiano. A lifetime resident of North Providence, he was the son of the late Gulio and Josephine (Cafasso) Rubiano.

He worked for Patton and MacGuyer of Providence for 50 years, retiring in 1988. An Army veteran of WWII, he served as a medic in the India Burma Campaign. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was an avid RI Reds fan.

Fred leaves three children, Cynthia King, Fred J. Rubiano, and Jeannie Vickers and her husband Donald, a sister Laura Liberato all of North Providence, 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-0301.
