Ellen E. Burns

Ellen E. Burns, born on July 7, 1947, in Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at her home in North Providence. 

As the eldest of ten children, Ellen assumed the role of a second mother to her siblings, illustrating her unwavering commitment to family. She nurtured her loved ones with warmth and care, always ready to lend a helping hand or an ear whenever needed.

In her professional life, Ellen worked as a secretary for both Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and Royal Globe Insurance for many years.

Ellen’s fondness for animals, particularly cats and dogs, enriched her life and the lives of those around her. Her pets were cherished companions that brought her immense joy.

She is survived by her sisters and brothers, Kathleen Achille (James), Margaret Owens (Bob), Richard Goff, Robert Goff, Barbara Callison (Ed), Elaine Stein (Bob), and Mary Hunt-Lee (Richard), and numerous beloved nephews and nieces: Timothy Hunt, Ryan Hunt, James Hunt, Steven Owens, Michael Owens, Robbie Stein, David Stein, Bethie Stein, Kathleen Accino, and Holly Callison. Ellen is also survived by her cherished cat, Gizmo.

Ellen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Burns, as well as her parents, James Goff, Sr. and Ellen (Hughes) Goff. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, James Goff, Jr. and John Goff.

In accordance with Ellen's wishes, services will be held privately for her immediate family.
