Eleanor A. (Corbesero) Cabral, 93, of Smithfield, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 26, 2026. Born in Providence on April 27, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Bertha (Youhess) Corbesero.
A graduate of St. Patrick's High School and Johnson & Wales School of Business, Eleanor began her working life as a bookkeeper for General Electric. After her marriage, she devoted herself to her family as a stay-at-home mother, and when her children were older, she returned to work at Almacs, where she remained until her retirement.
Eleanor was married to her beloved husband, Norman Cabral, from 1954 until his passing in 2004, sharing a life together marked by devotion to family. For the last four years, she made her home at the Village at Waterman Lake.
Her faith and commitment to her community were reflected in the many ways she gave of herself. She served as a CCD teacher at St. Michael's Church and was a founding member of the RC Laperche Elementary School PTA. She found great joy in the simple and lasting pleasures of life, especially being with her family, playing cards, and enjoying different games with those she loved and with her friends at the Village at Waterman Lake.
She is survived by her loving children: Donna Meizoso and her husband, Henry; Sheila Marsh and her husband, Len; Norman R. Cabral, Jr. and his wife, Beverly; and Eugene D. Cabral and his wife, Denise. She also leaves her seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene Corbesero and Ralph Corbesero.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 am in St. Michael's Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in the church. Burial will follow at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice or the St. Michael's Social Justice Committee.
