Elaine G. Masterson Pignolet (Bishop), of North Providence, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on June 25, 2026 at the age of 89.
Born on July 5, 1936 in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Charlotte (McNeil) Bishop.
Elaine was a devoted wife of 46 years to her loving husband, Gary Pignolet. Her legacy continues through her children: sons, Mark Masterson and Gary Masterson, and daughter Julie Gibney (Charles), as well as her stepchildren, Greg Pignolet and Stacy Connelly. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and her brothers, Charles Bishop (Mary) and Stephen Bishop (Debbie).
Family was the cornerstone of Elaine’s life. She was especially devoted to her grandchildren, finding true joy in nurturing and caring for them. Her kindness extended beyond her immediate family; over the years, Elaine opened her heart and home to many children as a foster mother, providing comfort, safety, and love to those in need.
Elaine found fulfillment in her professional life as well. Before her retirement, she worked for the North Providence Housing Authority. She had a talent for crocheting and took delight in sitting on her patio, soaking in the beauty of her yard. Together with her husband, she cherished traveling locally, especially their treasured trips to Cape Cod and New Hampshire. Cooking gave her another avenue to express her creativity and affection, and she relished both preparing meals and going out to eat with loved ones.
Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Augustine Church, Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Graveside burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours Monday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main St. Providence, RI 02904.
