Eileen D. Galligan

Eileen D. Galligan, 98, passed away on February 19, 2026 at Miriam Hospital. Born in North Providence, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Duxbury) Galligan.

Eileen received her nursing degree from Sturdy Memorial Hospital and Rhode Island College. She worked as a registered nurse for 33 years for the VA Medical Center in Providence. Following her retirement, she worked part-time at Kent Rheumatology. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, crafting and playing cards, as well as spending time with her nieces and nephews.

Eileen was predeceased by her brother, Francis E. Galligan (Alice), her nephew, Francis G. Galligan, and her niece Carole Sgambato (Bill). She is survived by her nephew, Thomas Galligan (Debbie), Francis’ wife, Helga Galligan, her great-nieces and nephews, Michael, Jennifer, Cheri, Lisa, and John, and her great-great nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 10 am n St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Ave., Johnston. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St., Pawtucket, RI, 02860.
