Edward G. Richards, 73, of Seekonk, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was born on April 2, 1953, in Riverside, Rhode Island, where he was raised.

Edward worked in environmental services and went on to serve as a boiler operator at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.

In 1975, Edward married Vidalia E. (Paiva) Richards, with whom he shared many cherished years. A proud father, he was deeply devoted to his children: Lisa V. Swicker and her husband, Jonathan of Rehoboth (their children, Faith, Lily, Grace, Violet, and Eve, Edward G. Richards of Clermont, FL (his children, Ayanna and Amaryse), and Jeffrey Richards of Seekonk (his children, Dominic, Duray, and Carissa). Edward especially enjoyed being a grandfather, often offering to drive his grandchildren to their activities, showing his boundless affection and support.

Edward’s life was enriched by a variety of hobbies and interests that highlighted his vibrant personality. He was an avid listener of Classic Rock and Country music, particularly admiring the works of The Beatles, Johnny Cash, and Hank Williams. His love for music extended to playing the guitar at family gatherings. Traveling with his family brought him great happiness, especially trips to Pennsylvania and camping excursions in New Hampshire. Saturdays often found him engaged in spirited games of Rummy 500, a favorite pastime shared with loved ones. Edward also enjoyed quahogging, and he had a passion for collecting stamps and coins, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for history and nature. Edward’s faith was a cornerstone of his life. His deep belief in God provided strength and guidance throughout his journey.

Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Vidalia, his children Lisa, Edward, and Jeffrey, ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and his sister Hazel O'Rourke of East Greenwich. His extended family includes two nieces, three nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ruth (Zimmerman) Richards, and his brother, George Richards.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 22, 2026 from 10-11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. HIs funeral service will be held at 11 am. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
