LaCroix, Edward J., 89, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Mt. St. Rita’s Health Center. He was the husband of Shirley M. (Moore) LaCroix for 67 years. Born in Smithfield, he was a son of the late Alfred and Celina (Paquette) LaCroix.

Ed was a self-employed carpenter for over 61 years, retiring at the age of 80. He was an officer with the Georgiaville Volunteer Fire Co. for many years. He had played football with the Smithfield Townies, and was an adult advisor with the St. Michael’s Church CYO. He had also served with the US Army Air Corps during WWII.

Besides his wife, he leaves three daughters Cheryl Darcy and her husband William of Lakeland FL, Carole Brannigan and her husband Glenn of North Providence, and Diane Shaw and her husband David of Pascoag, six grandchildren, Michelle Salvucci, Kristen Madows, Renee Brannigan, Sean Brannigan, Edward Martin, and Celina DeSilva, and one great-grandchild. He was the brother of the late George, Alfred, and Lawrence LaCroix, Celina Gould, Eva Laboissonniere, Beatrice Garriepy, and Loretta Provost.

His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at 9AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are Tuesday, 4-7 PM.
