Allamby, Donald B., 93, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026. Born in Providence on May 4, 1932, and a former long-time resident of North Providence, he was the husband of the late Dorothy M. Allamby (Horiagon) and the son of the late Julian B. and Margaret R. (Major) Allamby.
After serving his country in the U.S. Air Force, Donald “Don” enjoyed a long career as a design engineer for Grinnell Fire Protection and Automatic Sprinkler. Don was happiest in the company of his wife, children and grandchildren. He was a supportive and loving father and grandfather, never missing a sporting event, recital or graduation. Don enjoyed playing golf, coaching North Providence West Little League, and was never without a book, his favorites being legal thrillers and biographies. He was a former communicant of St. Augustine’s Church.
Don is survived by his daughters, Catherine Cardon and her husband, Paul, and Mary Beth Barkan, and six grandchildren, MaryKate (and husband Austin Lever), Megan and Kristen Cardon, and Colin, Caitlin and Shannon Barkan. He was the father of the late Brian Allamby and father-in-law of the late Jeffrey Barkan.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1:30 pm in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in Swan Point Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 4-6 pm.
