Deborah E. Bates, passed away on June 7, 2025, at her home in North Providence, at the age of 72, surrounded by her family.. Born on September 26, 1952, in North Scituate, Deborah was the daughter of Harold and Elsie (Swanzie) Ellis, who preceded her in death.
Deborah dedicated 25 years of her career as a claims adjuster for Beacon Mutual Insurance, where she was known for her professionalism and compassion. Her career was not merely a job; it was a testament to her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others.
Beyond her professional life, Deborah was the heart of her family, bringing everyone together for holidays, ensuring that each gathering was filled with love and laughter. She treasured moments spent with her husband, Robert "Bob" M. Bates, and embraced opportunities to foster connections with her children and grandchildren. Her legacy is carried on by her daughter, Susan M. Buono and her partner Paul; her stepson, Robert M. Bates, Jr.; and her grandsons, Joshua Buono and Alex Triangolo. She is also survived by her brother, Harold Ellis, along with his wife Deb; sisters Carole Sardelli and her husband Will, and Marie Madden; and a multitude of nieces and nephews who adored her.
Deborah’s personal interests reflected her vibrant spirit. She had a profound love for animals, enjoyed immersing herself in literature, and found great joy in antiquing and yard sales. Shopping was a pastime she relished, and she created cherished memories while going on cruises, exploring new destinations and making lasting friendships.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 4-8 pm in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. A service of remembrance will be held at 7 pm. Burial at Highland Memorial Park will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
