David R. Laplante, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born on July 4, 1954, in Providence, Rhode Island, David led a life marked by dedication and love.
David had a distinguished career at Electric Boat, where he worked tirelessly for 43 years before retiring just four years ago. His contributions to the company and the people he worked with were significant, earning him the respect and admiration of many.
He is survived by his devoted daughters, Renee Briehof (Richard Jr.) and Michele Horrigan (Patrick), along with his bonus daughter, Stefanie Kubbe. David cherished his role as a grandfather to Cameron, Cora, Miranda, Michael, and Colin, who brought immense joy to his life.
In addition to his children and grandchildren, David is also survived by his loving sisters, Norma McCurdy and Marcia Rapone. His family will forever remember his kindness, warmth, and the many lessons he imparted throughout his life.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Debra (DeCoteau) Laplante, and his parents, Raymond Laplante and Estella (Randle) Laplante. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, as his legacy of love and strength will continue to inspire those he left behind.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Friday 5-8 pm.
