Claire Balcom

Balcom, Claire V., 76, of Smithfield, died Thursday August 16, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late David B. Balcom. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Roger and Mary Alice (Jutras) LaBonte.

Claire’s passion was her family. She also was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church in Smithfield.

She is survived by her children, Laura J. Gaule and her husband Raymond, Ricky D. Balcom and his wife Minju, Joseph S. Balcom and his wife Karen, Thomas E. Balcom and his wife Lisa, and Donna M. Capalbo and her husband Jason, eleven grandchildren, Raymond Gaule, Ashley Gaule, Haley Balcom, Jacob Balcom, Nathan Balcom, Rachel Balcom, Jessica Balcom, Alexandra Balcom, David Balcom, Nicholas Capalbo and Valerie Capalbo, and her siblings, Jeanne Clemence, Roger LaBonte and Alice Clapprood. She was the sister of the late Adrian LaBonte and Rose Paul.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 9AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave. North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Monday 4-7PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Church.
