Carole Ann (Galligan) Sgambato of North Providence, age 77; Officer and owner of Yacht Club Bottling Works in Centredale, passed away unexpectedly on August 30, 2023. She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, William J. Sgambato.
Carole is survived by her children, Michael Sgambato, Cheri Sgambato and Brian Zarlenga, Lisa (Sgambato) Calabro, husband Derek and John Sgambato, wife Lindsay; her grandchildren, Hannah and Dylan Calabro, Aubrey and Noah Sgambato. She is predeceased by her parents, Francis and Alice (Fontaine) Galligan and her brother Francis G. Galligan. She is also survived by her brother Thomas, wife Debra, sister-in-law Helga Schrepf, sister-in-law Ruth Aiello, aunt Eileen Galligan and many nieces and nephews.
Carole was born on January 10, 1946. She graduated in 1965 from the RI School of Practical Nursing. She worked as a Pediatric Nurse at Roger Williams Hospital until retiring in 1969 to care for her children. Carole became the backbone of Yacht Club, working from home and managing the business, all while raising her family. In later years, her time was spent caring for elderly relatives and anyone who needed her help. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, attending their many activities. Carole was a fixture at the ball field, gymnasium and race track. She cherished time spent with family and friends. Carole will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 9am at Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., N. Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Monday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the RI Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org/RI).
