Barbara Ann (Blackburn) Darby, 87, formerly of North Providence and Smithfield, died on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at Bayview Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was the wife of the late Donald F. Darby, whom she married on April 4, 1959. Born in Providence on February 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Molyneux) Blackburn.

Barbara graduated from North Providence High School in 1956. She retired from Amica Insurance Company after 24 ½ years, where she was a supervisor.

Barbara was very active in the community. She was a Past Worthy Advisor Rainbow, Centredale Assembly. A devout member of the former St. Alban’s Church in Centredale, she was the first woman Senior Warden, a member of the Vestry and the Choir, former President, Vice-President, and Secretary of ECW, former member of the Board of Diocesan ECW, and former Superintendent of the Sunday School. Also involved in politics, she was a former member and secretary of the Smithfield Democratic Town Committee and former Secretary of the Greenville Water District. She was also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Shadowbrook Condo Association, her former residence.

She is survived by five nieces and two nephews and her goddaughter, Dr. Charlene Tate. She was the godmother of the late Jay G. Lawrence.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 10 am in Highland Memorial Park, 1 Rhode Island Ave., Johnston.
